My Students

We are nearly two months into the school year and have been having an amazing time getting to know one another. Meeting new friends, becoming familiar with new routines, and establishing goals in reading, writing, and math have been the themes of the day. The only things missing from it all is a connection to technology.

My students epitomize academic resilience every single day!

Located in Washington, D.C. they are provided with transportation from our district each day due to their disabilities in learning. The amazing piece is that you would never know about their disabilities because they do their very best to perform like their grade level peers. Knowing this, I want to continue to provide the best educational experiences for them.

My Project

I have a new computer in my classroom and it gets the job done 100%! Students are able to access various learning websites and access assessments which support their learning. As for myself, I am able to grade documents, store information, and engage in professional development learning outside of school. But this project is written specifically so that we can connect this new technology to a whole group learning experience.

This project will help us to minimize unnecessary items and replace them with areas to utilize in the classroom for learning.

We currently have a large cart in our classroom which holds some pretty antiquated pieces of technology. At times, the amount of time that it takes to connect all of the working parts together will often result in instructional time wasted. Due to the severity of my students learning disabilities, we aim to maximize instructional time while facilitating student engagement and collaboration. We are trying to replace the aged computer cart that exists in the classroom by minimizing to a much easier tool. The Apple TV allows us to get rid of the projector, wireless keyboard, and the excessive amounts of small cords and extension cords.

This experience will allow for the enhancement of learning with an integration of technology. Hopefully you will be able to assist us with a new device to our classroom!
