Help Mrs. Persaud

I am the Science teacher at a Brooklyn elementary school. 93% of our population is eligible for Title 1 services. To provide hands on experiments in learning about ecology and the environment, we have been using a vacant spot of land near our school. However, this land now has a new owner, and we are not able to use it. In order to continue to provide these or similar experiences for my students, I looked at the Hydroponic Greenhouse and the folding Greenhouse as ways to compensate. Our students need as much stimuli as possible in trying to grasp scientific concepts, and this gives then the opportunity to really get involved and see things develop before their eyes. Our current Science Lab is not very well stocked, and without the outdoor garden to work in, a lot of the concepts we are expecting them to learn become difficult to grasp. With the Greenhouses, we can conduct experiments with plants, grow vegetables and compare the taste of home grown and store bought vegetables, reinforce math concepts in measurement, document their observations as they test their hypotheses, and observe plant life and soil erosion. We would be grateful for the donation of two Hydroponic Greenhouses and two Folding Greenhouses, two Light fixtures with Gro-Lux Wide Spectrum tubes and two replacement Gro-Lux Wide Spectrum Tubes. These would allow me to conduct experiments with my 3rd to 5th grade classes. Thank you for your consideration of my proposal.
