My Project

Students these days face a lot of pressure, both in and out of the classroom. Their young minds don't yet know how to cope with both the intrinsic and extrinsic emotions that a middle schooler can experience on a daily basis. At this age, most students lack the ability to effectively regulate themselves, their emotions, and their minds, so we as adults must show them how to do so.

A student's social and emotional mindset has a huge impact on their learning in both positive and negative ways.

If my students are having a rough time and can't get ahold of their minds, nothing I try to teach them will be remembered and used later. A calming corner can help a student de-escalate their swirling emotions and mental state and help them refocus on learning.

By helping us purchase these items for a calming corner, including a bean bag chair and a new rug, you'll be helping my students learn how to deal with complex emotions. Going to the calming corner to relax or to use sensory materials will help them to be able to clear their heads and get back to learning.
