Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I elementary school located in New York City. My first grade class is filled with children of diverse background and needs. This class is passionate about learning and their class community. They are always eager to enter the classroom, greet one another, and to find out what learning will take place each day.

The curiosity, eagerness, and fearlessness to learn that my students exhibit, touches my heart each day.

I am always looking for ways cultivate and promote this budding love of learning.

My Project

My students love to share their ideas with each other. At this young age it can be difficult for them to verbally explain the processes used to arrive at an answer, especially in math.

Being the teacher brings joy to many students, with a document camera it becomes even more exciting!

Along with a proper storage cart, students can easily share their thinking with one another, and thus teach other in math especially.

This technology allows children to share their reasoning and problem solving while also boosting their confidence. Displaying student work for the entire class allows children to be proud of their work and share their diverse ideas with each other.
