Help Us Supply Our Music Room With the Basics!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for considering our elementary music education classroom for your donation! I work with approximately 600 k-6 students in Rochester, NY. My students are incredible young musicians with a genuine hunger for learning music.

We are looking for a number of things to add to our classroom:

Movable colored rubber spots: these will allow students to easily visualize and change formations/sections during instrument songs, movement songs, games, etc.

Color-coded sticker dots: These are placed on the fretboards of our ukuleles to help us learn chord shapes.

White boards and markers: These will be used as we begin to learn about melody and music notation. Instead of each student taking turns at the whiteboard, this would allow students to have their own whiteboard and work with more independence. Creating is such an important part of their music education!

Standing desk: Since much of our visuals are now on the computer, a movable standing desk will allow for the teacher to move around the room, increasing student interaction and accountability, without losing access to the computer/slides.
