My Project

In today's crazy world, we ALL need a calm corner . . . a place to be by ourselves so we can zoom-out from all the extraneous happenings that surround us and be able to zoom-in and be mindful of our own social-emotional health.

Our elementary students (we have over 900 children) need this special place in on campus to do just that, as they are developing their social-emotional skills and learning to identify, name, and express their feelings through self-talk and through communication with their peers and adults who love and care for them.

We have designated a a room on campus where the children can take a break and calm themselves if they are ever feeling angry, frustrated, or lost. A calming room will provide students a place to take a break, to connect with their feelings, and to de-escalate using calming tools such as brain activities like mazes, sensory alphabet letter stones, and a sorting game for naming feelings and emotions. This room is an empty room that needs a lot to make it complete. It needs a carpet that are warm and inviting and that provides my students a place to sit and be comfortable, sensory fidgets and tools, posters, Legos, blankets, seats and more. Please help us get what we need to make this room an area for all our students to access when needed. We appreciate your support.
