My Students

I teach gifted students in grades three through five in our CLUE (Creative Learning in a Unique Environment) Program. We are so excited to be returning to one hundred percent in-person learning this school year. My students are a diverse group representing a variety of races, genders, ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels.

One thing is true for all of my students-they love learning!

They love to take on new challenges and seek out innovative ways to solve problems. This type of learning provides the "Aha" moments that I treasure as an educator.

My Project

We are so excited to start this new school year 100% in person! Although we will still wear masks and social distance, we will all be in the classroom together. Because I teach pull-out classes, students do not bring supplies for my class. I usually purchase enough classroom supplies so that students can share community supplies. In order to ensure that we are following Covid safety guidelines, I am requesting enough supplies so that my students can have individual resource packs. They will also need their own folders for each of our 4 studies. These folders will contain all materials needed in the event we need to switch to learning virtually or if a student needs to quarantine. I will use the file folders to create documentation files for each student that include IEP documents, work samples, and performance records.

My students create elaborate projects and need to be able to print their work without worrying that we are always running low on ink.

We are only provided one toner cartridge each year. This does not last long when I serve 45-50 students. I am also required to print IEP documents on this printer so my one cartridge usually runs out within the first quarter! I am also requesting a paper shredder so that I can shred IEP drafts. Because my classroom is a portable (picture a large aluminum shed), it is not convenient to go into the main building to shred documents in the office.
