Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a Title I school. Many of my students are English Language Learners and have special learning needs. Our budget is extremely limited, leaving very little to provide students with fun experiences. Research has shown that learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain cells, improving functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills, which are essential for math and science. Children who learn to play an instrument have an outlet for creativity and their emotions.

Because so many of our families are struggling financially, many will not be able to afford instruments.

By donating to our project, you will be providing all of our 4th grade students the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument. Our students love to play instruments and will be able to keep these instruments in protective cases and take them home to practice. They will also have the opportunity to perform in a concert for their family, friends and community members.

We are also in need of new headphones for our piano lab. We are fortunate to have a piano lab, but the headphones are very old.
