This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Charter school in a high need area in Illinois needs these books to help students pass the state required Constitution test. I plan on giving these books to my current 7th graders for them to study over the summer. In 8th grade, they are required to pass the Illinois test in order to graduate to high school.
Supplies to pass the Constitution test are often limited, as our school has only a finite amount of funds. The students have a textbook and a workbook provided by the school, but I want my students to have this book to keep at home over the summer.
These books will help my students to preview the material while they are on their summer breaks. Keeping the information fresh in their minds will hopefully ease the learning process once the school year starts again in August.
Passing the test is a state requirement for promotion to the next grade, and your help will ensure that my students go on to the next level....high school!
