Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is one of self-esteem, discovery, thinking outside of the box, and reaching beyond what anyone thought was possible for my students. I have a fifth grade inclusion class in a low-income, high poverty neighborhood.

Half of my students have some form of learning disability but, I don't see that.

Each and every one of my students has the ability, and desire, to reach for more. For some of them, school is the most stable environment they have, with the adults as their "parents". I strive to provide not just a classroom with multiple learning paths, but a family setting in which they feel safe, loved, and wanted.

My Project

I am requesting 2 laptops for my classroom. My students would benefit from using a laptops to research writing projects and explore alternative learning avenues. The students also need to take multiple assessments online, as often as possible in order to track their progress throughout the year. I currently only have 2 computers and limited access to the computer lab.

I have over 22 students trying to use two computers.

It is very difficult to ensure that all the children have access to the computers because the number of students outnumber the number of computers. Having a laptops in the classroom would make it easier to share the computers.
