Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my music classes are energetic and inquisitive. They enjoy hands-on activities and the opportunity to sing, play and compose music. They are eager to participate and like to be in the spotlight. They are very musical and enjoy performing and learning to read music.

Many of my students are English Language Learners, and I have witnessed them radiate with confidence and joy when they successfully tell a story through music that they are unable to express in words.

The cultures found in the school are represented by a student body made up of 80 percent Latino, 10 percent African American and 3 percent Middle Eastern.

My Project

These beautiful, organized practice logs will inspire students to record their practice sessions every day. They will help parents and students understand the music skills they need to study every day in order to make progress on their instrument and prepare for our weekly classes and concerts.

The practice log book will be a way to connect students, teachers and parents in the process of learning to play an instrument.

The journals will give students, teachers and parents a chance to review daily lessons, make comments and check progress.

Most students struggle with finding the time to practice because they think it will take a long time or it will be too hard. These practice log books will allow students to see that by practicing every day, even if for just 10 minutes, they will make great progress on their instrument.
