My Project

I am honored to be the teacher of a group of exuberant preschoolers. These children are inquisitive, eager to learn, and ready to explore. Despite my students being from low-income communities, diverse cultural backgrounds, and having various learning needs, I am determined not to allow that reality prevent me from exposing them to an equal chance at being successful. As their advocate and teacher, it is my job to create an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. Therefore, adding a water/sand table to our classroom would be extremely beneficial.

In Early learning, we acknowledge the environment as a teacher as well.

When children engage with their natural environment and use natural resources in their play, they are building their understanding of the world and their place in it, while also building their understanding of their own abilities to affect and influence things.

The tactile interaction can help reduce tension and anxiety in children who are introverted and timid. Sand and water play are excellent ways for children to express themselves and provide a multitude of therapeutic benefits that can help with developmental delay and sensory processing difficulties. Additionally, the use of sand and water table offers self-directed play, helps children improve their coordination skills, use their gross motor and cognitive skills, learn some fundamentals of math, and test out their artistic expression.
