Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are all diagnosed with speech and language impairment or other learning disabilities. Many of them are also English Language Learners who come from low-income households.

Most of my students are below grade level in reading and have difficulty with decoding skills.

Many of the students struggle to learn the vowel sounds, which makes decoding difficult. They benefit greatly from the use of visuals, and hands-on activities/manipulatives when learning and practicing the sounds for short and long vowels. Your donation will provide my students with hands-on manipulatives (miniature items) that will enable them to work on their vocabulary skills, while also targeting phonological awareness (segmenting, blending, etc) and teaching short and long vowel sounds. My students and I thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness!
