My students need help learning how to independently complete everyday activities. They need to learn basic skills such as toothbrushing, how to set the table, fold laundry, sweep the floor, etc. We need socks, a vacuum and Velcro tape.

My Students

Our school serves students ages 4 - 14 all with developmental delays, specifically those who fall under Autism Spectrum Disorders. However, their cognitive delays are not their only difficulty. Most of our students come from low-income households as well as non-English speaking homes.

Even more shocking, it is not uncommon for many of our students to be living in shelters, or have parents who also suffer from cognitive delays.

Our students not only suffer from academic challenges, but are also lacking basic needs and skills that most of us take for granted everyday.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in our student's learning because it will provide them with the hands on experience they need to learn specific skills. They will be able to actually brush their teeth, fold and sort laundry, sweep and vacuum IN SCHOOL.

Imagine how happy a parent would be when their 10 year old finally brushes his or her teeth without a battle?

By donating to this project you will not only be improving their school lives but also their overall quality of live. Our students need so much assistance in so many areas, you'd be helping to achieve the most basic skills we take for granted.

Unfortunately, Life Skills is not even recognized as a mandated subject for our students. Subjects like Science and Art are but not Life Skills. This makes funding and supplies for this much needed subject even more limited
