Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help my students learn sight words and build their vocabulary.

The majority of my students come from a home where English is not the first language.

Many of them come to school the first day knowing little to no English. My school is ninety-eight percent free and reduced lunch. With all these obstacles, my students are still hardworking and eager to learn.

My Project

I am requesting 5 sets of fiction and nonfiction readers that are on my students' reading level. This will help my students practice building their vocabulary and their sight words so that they may end Kindergarten on the appropriate reading level, though there are many obstacles in their way.

Research shows that vocabulary is one of the major indicators on whether or not a person will succeed in obtaining a career later in life.

Help us prepare for high-level careers this year and for many years to come.
