Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with 18 wonderful and inquisitive pre-kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.

Our Pre-K students love to learn new things daily!

For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines, and many new concepts in various subjects! They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learners they are and learn concepts in many different ways!

My Project

One of the funnest ways for young children to learn science and math skills is through planting and cooking! Young children must be engaged in the learning process and learning through hands-on experiences really helps them understand academic concepts and apply that understanding in real life.

My students need many materials to learn through planting and cooking!

Through these activities, they will learn about states of matter changing, cause and effect, plant facts, healthy vegetarian eating, measurement, time, literacy through creating and reading recipes. They will learn social skills by following directions and working together with their classmates to make food for the class. My students need pots, soil, and seeds to plant and observe the life cycle of their plants. They need supplies for a clean environment to cook and cooking supplies to make food. They need cooking aprons, child safe utensils, food choppers, a cooling rack, cooking supplies, and a children's cookbook. Having these supplies will allow the children to grow their own food, cook it, and eat it!

My little Pre-K gardeners and chefs appreciate any help you can give! Thank you for any donation you can make!
