Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are all diagnosed with speech and language impairment or other learning disorders. Many of them are also English language learners. Many of my students are struggling to learn how to read. I use explicit and systematic instruction to teach decoding skills while also targeting vocabulary and language skills. I love to use decodable texts to practice each decoding skills. I love seeing students build their confidence with reading when they are able to decode using these controlled texts! There is nothing better than hearing struggling readers say, “I love reading now!" Your donation will enable me to purchase decodable texts and accompanying worksheets for my students, which will enable them to practice reading skills and encourage a love of reading! In addition, the Spark language flip book will provide pictures to target various speech and language skills including vocabulary, sentence formation, grammar, pronouns, etc. The students are sure to be engaged and motivated by the colorful pictures and fun scenes!
