Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of smart, talkative and very kind dual language(English and Spanish) second graders who come from very diverse Hispanic backgrounds. They love reading and learning about a variety of topics, but especially about current events and landmarks around the world. In addition, they love to use technology to learn and to teach others. Also, there are many students in our classroom learning English as a second language who love using picture books or playing games to acquire the social language they need to help them develop their academic language to become successful in their new school environment . Unfortunately, computers in our classroom are limited and the ones we have are very slow and outdated. Our books are also limited and very old or broken. Moreover, they have very limited or no access to technology and/or books at home. Many of them come from households with serious financial challenges or don’t have a home at all. Please help our class to continue to nurture their love for reading and learning about the world with your donations!! We would thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

My Project

These resources will make a difference in my students learning because they’ll become more interested in reading and then writing about what they read. In addition, the tablet will also help my students become more engaged in their learning through the use of technology and will allow them to enrich their vocabulary and develop deeper conversations about what they have learned. On the other hand, the book sets and phonic activities will help build my students’ confidence in themselves and what they can accomplish with hard work and the necessary tools. Finally, having these resources will allow my students to learn at their own pace.
