My Project

This year, I have a large group of ENL students. My scholars are capable and determined, and they want to learn. Unfortunately, they are learning English and sometimes it can become frustrating for them when they have to learn how to decode and process two different languages.

The workbooks that I am requesting today will help my beginners learn English by using cartoons.

Growing up, I had bilingual friends and they would share with me that they learned English by watching TV, and this is something I have always kept in mind when teaching my students. Additionally, cartoons will allow my scholars to become more engaged with the content.

The reading books that I am requesting today will allow my scholars to read independently in Spanish and English. In my classroom, I value my scholars' identity and I never want them to feel as if they have to leave a part of themselves behind.

In all, it is my goal for scholars to enjoy learning English and to grow to have a love for reading, and I believe that this project can help me to achieve that.
