My Project

I work at a Title 1 school with the majority of children receiving free school lunch. Our kids are bright, inquisitive and hard working. I would like to introduce the concept of clean energy; specifically solar energy and how the SUN can help make a cleaner Earth for all humans. The students will learn about how solar energy works, why it is important to learn about, the benefits of using clean energy like solar power, and lastly students need to learn about solar power so they can possibly invent or create a whole new way of using alternative energy sources so they can help keep the Earth clean and to prevent global warming. Students will create houses using solar to power the lights and other household appliances. This unit will incorporate engineering, math, science, technology and art to learn how to create a solar powered home (from cardboard and other materials) for people to live in.
