My Students

"What is this word?" That is a question I hear from many of my students, especially the struggling readers in my third grade reading class. Imagine how it could build their confidence if they could read entire books without being forced to ask the teacher for help!

I have 18 boys and girls in my third grade classroom in our rural Kentucky school!

I have 15 additional students from other homerooms in my reading class. We are in a small district with only three small schools where much of the faculty (myself included) are former students! The faculty and students have tons of school spirit! Most of my third graders genuinely enjoy school, and they love to learn new things! Even those who struggle sill put forth their best effort and are eager and willing to learn! They love hands-on activities, educational games, and being read to. It is for all of those reasons that I think the LeapFrog Tag Readers would be a perfect addition to our classroom!

My Project

The Tag School Reader is a kid-friendly, fun tool for elementary students. I'm requesting 2 readers with protective cases to use in my reading class, 3rd grade homeroom, and with the students in our after school tutoring program. The kids in my classes love listening to stories, and it's important that they hear fluent reading as frequently as possible. With these Tag readers they can listen to stories, read on their own with help if needed, and practice important reading skills as they move through each book. The transitional readers I requested, such as "Arthur Writes A Story", have commentary from the author, vocabulary lists with definitions, games that challenge students' comprehension skills, and more. My students need 2 LeapFrog Tag school readers and storage cases, transitional readers, and activity cards to encourage reading for fun while improving necessary skills.

With the resources I'm requesting even my struggling students can feel the sense of accomplishment you have when you read a book all on your own!

Boosting their confidence can be one of the greatest gifts we can give them! I want to encourage them and all of my students to read and to love reading! With your help we can use these Tag readers to do just that! Thank you for helping me make all of my students successful readers!
