My Students

Our students love to learn! They dive into concepts and explore new ideas with eagerness and energy. When you walk into our school students are engaged in projects, reading, writing and problem solving. Our school has over 20 languages that are spoken. It is common to have more than 4 languages in a classroom. Our linguistically diverse community is special. Many of our students are acquiring English as a new language. Much of this work is done within a content learning area where vocabulary can be challenging. Our students need individualized supports.

My Project

My students want to travel back in time but we need a set of Little House and the Prairie historical fiction picture books. In our classrooms, students are eager to learn about the past but without books we're left in the present. A set of Little House and the Prairie historical fiction picture books will be used during guided reading groups. Students will analyze the historical time period, conflicts in history and learn how the past can teach us about the future.

In addition to guided reading groups, a set of Little House and the Prairie historical fiction picture books will allow all readers to access the historical time period.
