My Students

My students receive free hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Many of my students are English Language Learners. They come from households where English is a second language. At home, the English language is rarely spoken, making it challenging for my students to learn and practice the English language. My classroom also services students with disabilities such as children with autism, ADHD, and speech or language impairments. A classroom is a place for these children to feel safe and accepted.

That is my mission every day as a special education teacher.

My Project

My students use computers and technology to complete research and use learning apps to improve reading and math skills. A majority of my students heavily rely on listening skills to help comprehend a text and understand directions. When they hear it, they better understand it.

My students require visual and audio instruction to help aid their understanding.

Currently, my classroom has one working pair of earbuds and the students fight over them. They are very eager to hear what they are learning however, that becomes difficult when more than one computer has the volume on. My students would greatly benefit from these headphones so they can hear their own computer/ technology.
