My Students

"Hello?!" "Can you hear me now?" My students are unable to hear our learning programs without working headphones. It is very distracting and hard to learn when everyone has the volume on in the classroom.

My second grade classroom is comprised of 100% military children.

They are 7 and 8 years-old and eager to learn. They are an amazing group of kids who attend school while their parents serve in Afghanistan, recover at the military hospital from their war-inflicted injuries, or complete their duty to our country. They love learning, have fun making everything into songs, and find pure joy in learning with engaging, yet rigorous activities.

My Project

My students are engaged when given the opportunity to display their learning and work with technology. We currently use programs such as, Jump Start, Accelerated Reader, Reading Bear, and English in a Flash to strengthen reading and English learning skills with rigorous content built from our state standards - the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). During this time, I pull students for one-on-one or small group instruction. These, and other programs they use, offer audio tutorials for just about every standard. Without the use of headphones, these audio tutorials are difficult to listen to without distracting other students. The students in my classroom would greatly benefit from the use of quality headphones for their learning with computers, Leapsters, and iPads.

The students will be able to use the headphones to use interactive learning to its full potential.

They will also be able to use these headphones to listen to audio books and take audio-enhanced Accelerated Reader quizzes. Help me make a difference in my students' learning. Headphones will give the students the ability to utilize the resources that are available to them without being distracted by those around them. These resources, with the use of headphones, will help them find success.
