This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching ELA in Title I schools for ten years. My students have always loved to read, but we seem to hit a road block every year. The library books are constantly outdated and this turns kids off from reading. We spent some time in the public library this year to make sure my students always had high interest books

We are a Title I school and exhaust our resources every year.

My students love to read and I want to provide them with exposure to new books in order to build engagement and feed their love of books. In order to do so we need help!

My Project

We attempted to grow vegetables in September but unfortunately our garden was not successful. As a class we have done our research and we are ready to try again. Our spring garden will consist of flowers, broccoli, beets, carrots, lettuce and spinach. Our students are so excited to problem solve and create a flourishing urban garden. Help our students gain an understanding of what it takes to grow vegetables start to finish. Our students will use mathematical reasoning to plant and grow crops for our spring harvest. We plan on starting the plants indoors at the end of February and transferring them into raised beds as soon as the weather is on our side!
