Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach a self-contained special education class in New York. My students all have a diagnosis of autism and many have severe cognitive delays. My students range in ages 5 to 7 and love coming to school!

In order to meet the educational needs of my students, they all receive individualized, one-to-one instruction at various times throughout the day. I have six students, which means six different sets of teaching materials. It can be very frustrating when teaching students and constantly having to search for the right material on the shelf. We have no centralized place to house all of the materials needed for each student.

In order to organize our intensive teaching station, we need a cart with lots of bins and pouches to separate and streamline teaching materials. This organization cart would allow each child to have a bin with their specific teaching materials inside (blocks, writing materials, manipulative toys, dramatic play toys, etc.). Teaching sessions would go by much faster and more smoothly, allowing me to maximize my time with each student and increase the quality of instruction.

With your help, I will be able to ensure that my students receive the best education possible. Intensive teaching sessions that are conducted just between the student and teacher are so successful when teaching children with autism, and I want them to be as productive as possible. Please help us get our materials organized so that we can effectively learn and not have a cluttered classroom! Thank you!!!
