My Students

A day at PS 295 can consist of acting out a script, playing the drums, learning a group dance or getting messy in the art room. We love the arts! Painting is one of our favorite activities from Pre-K to fifth grade, but we do not have any space to dry our masterpieces.

Our students love the arts, and PS 295 puts in the extra effort to include and inspire every child from Pre-K to fifth grade in this area.

We integrate our learning experiences through Dance, Visual Arts, Technology, Drama and Music. PS 295 families seek out our school for the arts focus, as many see the importance of learning through the arts. Our students come from diverse cultural backgrounds and love the chance to share their individuality through the arts.

My Project

Students will discover, explore and learn about painting. They will learn how to express their thoughts, ideas and feelings through this medium. A drying rack will allow our Visual Arts teacher to use our space more efficiently and bring the curriculum to more students in a timely fashion. Without a drying rack, only one class can paint a day! Student work is also displayed all year round in the hallways and cafeteria. Large scale painting will beautify our school. At the end of the school year, students will celebrate their work in the art room with a school wide Spring Arts Festival. This is a time when they come together and share their experiences with the community and parents.

Students learn in different ways.

Painting will allow students to express themselves as unique individuals. Painting allows for more movement and development of fine and gross motor skills. Many of our students who receive occupational and physical therapy will also get a chance to get further practice with new skills.
