My Students

I mentor a group of highly-motivated high school students that compete in a yearly robotics competition sponsored by FIRST Robotics. These students come from all grade levels and work to build, wire, and program a robot with the help of educators and industry professionals in the area. Last year, these students came in second place in their regional competition and had a chance to go to Houston, Texas for the FIRST Championship where they competed against the best teams in the world.

This year marks another exciting new robotics competition and we’re looking for support in helping grow these students as roboticists, professionals, and leaders!

My Project

When we attended the FIRST Championship in Houston, TX last year, we learned some valuable lessons. One of our biggest takeaways was that in order to be successful, our robot must be able to withstand the bullying of other robots. This year, we've been experimenting with more powerful motors, and while they've increased our robot's pushing power; it's put a substantial tax on our battery longevity.

We're hoping you can help us purchase a new battery charging station that will help keep our robot stay competitive in the late stages of the competition.

We're also seeking a new driver station that will allow our student programmers to incorporate vision tracking, and six tablet cases so that our students can keep our tablets safe while they scout out allies and opponents in pit areas and during the competition.
