Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. They are active, kind, talented, and curious students who love learning.

I teach kindergarten students at a high-poverty school in Brooklyn, NY.

It is a brand new school with tons of potential. The school includes students from pre-k to kindergarten, and it is a melting pot of children from all around the world. About ninety-five percent of the students in the school receive free lunch.

My Project

My kindergartners are learning to read. They feel so proud of themselves when they are able to read a book by themselves. Right now, my classroom does not have many leveled reading books. I would love for students to have books that they can read on their own whether at home or in school.

Readers are most engaged when they self-select books that they can and want to read.

In order for them to select books, they need to have a variety of leveled readers in our library.

Adding leveled reading books will not only enrich my classroom, but it will improve my students' reading abilities.
