Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 2nd grade teacher in Brooklyn. Over 90% of our students receive free lunch. The majority of the students in our school are below grade level. My students are motivated and eager to learn. Unfortunately, they are far below grade level. With all the cut backs, the needs of my students are not being met. We are fortunate to have a computer in the classroom. I would love to be able to teach the whole class by using a LCD projector. I am fortunate to have a math program that has many components that require computer use to engage the students. With a LCD projector, the students can use interactive learning and see the videos that show the new concept. The first topic is place value, which most students have difficulty with. Another part of the program with which the LCD projector is vital is the animated glossary. Student can see words defined on the online edition. The visual learning and concept bridge is all animated to reach the English learners, Special Ed., at risk and the advanced learners! Our classroom really needs a LCD projector to use all the cool technology this new math program has to offer. You can make the difference between just using a text book for math or making math come alive for the students with a LCD projector! My students will be will be forever grateful!
