Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from an incredibly low socioeconomic background. They love being able to play sports during recess and PE but do not have access to good-quality equipment. I have bought 6 basketballs with my own money for my third graders but unfortunately, many of those have disappeared to other classrooms or are not as good as they once were.

I have an incredibly athletic class and for some of them the only time they get to be outside exercising is at school, they need sports equipment to help them learn how to socialize and improve their mental health.

Please help us with this request for PE and sports equipment so I can help them grow healthy and have the skills to be able to work through tough situations both on and off the court! The ball rack could be an incredible help to organize our equipment and jump ropes because the ones we have are currently knotted together. The wagon would be a great addition to our PE equipment so students can take turns bringing out the equipment we are using as a class job and they love having the responsibility of being able to do more!

I teach them their general education content, but also a majority of their physical education curriculum. I grew up playing softball, soccer, and tennis and I know the value of being able to play on a team. I want my students to be able to see the great things you can accomplish when you work together and the importance of being healthy, both mentally and physically!
