Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The fun and engaging items I am requesting will fill our PBIS Prize Cart with prizes that will encourage our students to be SOAR-ing Eagle students. Many of these items are those wished for by our students! We have a token economy in which our students are able to purchase prizes with the S.O.A.R. bucks that they have earned by demonstrating the positive behaviors and expectations as listed in our S.O.A.R. matrices. The matrices are part of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and outline the behaviors that are expected from our students.
By increasing positive student behaviors and limiting negative behaviors, students are able increase their time on task and their overall academic achievement.
These are the primary goals behind our school's PBIS framework. Our school, SLESl, has a framework to aid in improving student behavior and learning, to boost school climate, and increase the safety and effectiveness of our learning environment. Once students begin earning bucks and using them to purchase prizes, they are more motivated to earn more bucks and encourage their friends and classmates to do the same.
