Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students at U.P. are so special! They go through so much, and yet they are incredibly resilient. Our students are learning how to tune into their mental health experiences and utilize the supports we've set up for them here at school.

This year, we set up a scavenger hunt in honor of mental health awareness month and we'd like to run the activity again next year.

First, we anonymously surveyed students about their mental health journeys. Then, we posted quotes and statistics around the school to de-stigmatize topics like depression and anxiety. Finally, we created a scavenger hunt for students to gather information from the posters and learn about the ways mental health shows up for our community. We incentivized participation with squish mallows, and students loved it! We want to re-create this experience again next year and could use your help in funding the incentives. Help us de-stigmatize mental health on campus!
