Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project contains six incredible activities that incite excitement, team building, creativity, and joy in the classroom. Unfortunately, some of our students struggle with their attendance, but these activities can help increase student belonging and positive feelings towards school. We have a few students that are new to the school or have been

I am super excited that I get a chance to offer these projects every year, but we need to restock our supplies so we can continue to offer them.

One of the supplies we need in our list is Color Run Power for our annual May Mile Run that kids greatly enjoy. Many kids do not enjoy running but the Color Run sparks joy and excitement for our students. Many students say that it is one of their favorite activities of the year.

Two of the other supplies are great for our Morning Meetings and team building. We are requesting painters sticks so students can build a DaVinci bridge with a partner and also UNO cards to play a game with another student they typically might not connect with.

Finally one of the last items in our list is beads and string. Some students don't feel comfortable going out to recess and enjoy meeting other students by creating and sharing bracelets. This increases students' sense of belonging and builds new friendships.

Thank you for considering donating to our classroom. The items that we are requesting are important supplies that we need to restock the class with so we can continue to offer fun STEM activities and increase student engagement. Some of my students have struggled transitioning back to school after the COVID shutdown and these activities always help encourage students to come back to school.
