Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 12th graders who are general education students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). The students I work with have learning disabilities such as Autism, ADD/ADHD, emotional disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. They come from diverse social and economic backgrounds in the city of Long Beach, CA.

All of my students are working hard to graduate high school with a diploma and attend college.

Many of my students will be first-generation college students who are feeling very hopeful, but anxious, about their futures. Having stress and anxiety-relief manipulative items such as coloring books and materials, stress-balls, and a healthy snack to eat or drink can make all the difference for my students as they continue to practice and develop their self-regulation skills. My teenage students will also often request personal hygiene items. Help us create a safe and welcoming environment where they can thrive and learn!
