This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you entered the 3rd grade and just began using the calculator? You were so excited to press all of the buttons that you didn't realize how helpful a tool the calculator was.

Well my students are not able to benefit from a calculator.

First, we don't have enough calculators for everyone to use and second, most of the buttons on the ones we do have are broken. The calculator is an educational tool utilized in many schools across the United States. Shouldn't it also be accessible to students in a NYC Title 1 school?

My Project

In the 3rd grade we have several lessons that we need to use a calculator for. We even have lessons about calculators and how to use them as a tool. Unfortunately, at this time we either skip the lesson or we show a picture and the students do not get the experience of using one.

Please help us become somewhat technological be furnishing us with a basic electronic tool-a calculator.

This would tremendously benefit the students academically. It is also a great hands-on tool that the students would enjoy.
