My Project

All of our students dream of living independently when they enter the adult world. I am lucky enough to teach high school students in a life skills class. They are very curious and all of them are motivated to increase their independence.

My students are eager to work on increasing their skills when it comes to activities of daily living.

Let's be honest, they all love to eat, as well.

The hot plate, blender, and small kitchen appliances will allow them to practice basic cooking skills with guidance so that someday they may be able to live independently. We are excited to learn to cook eggs, pancakes, waffles, but also grilled cheese sandwiches, and cheeseburgers. Then we get to clean up and do it again another day. The students will learn to cook safely and to keep their kitchen area clean. All of the skills during these lessons will be invaluable to them as they enter adulthood.
