About My Students

When three of your students nominate themselves as the classroom "Tech Managers" you know something special is happening. Jason, Shaidul, and Ling are determined to make sure we have the resources we need for our blended learning classroom.

My students use computers everyday for our personalized learning program. Everything they work on in school is connected to an online platform- grades, assessments, projects, resources. These three students have been in charge of taking care of the technology in our room this year and when I told them about student-led projects they had just one thing to say: "WE NEED MORE CHROMEBOOKS." Our program relies on fast stable connection to the internet, and doesn't require much storage. Our classroom computers are clunky and are in need of repair. Students are continually frustrated and want to make a change.

Students will use these Chromebooks to become both college/career ready and build life and emotion skills and resilience. As an example, students may use the computers to complete a collaborative Google slides presentation about the scientific revolution, developing both academic skills and the social skills required to collaborate in a digital setting.

In Their Own Words

Our project idea is to get more Chromebooks, so that we can keep our personalized learning program going this year. We need Chromebooks so that everyone in our class can have what they need to succeed in class each day. We can use Chromebooks for our "PLP," or "Personalized Learning Platform" to work on classwork, homework, assessments and projects at our own pace every day in school.

When we receive our new Chromebooks, we (Jason, Ling and Shaidul) will become the new classroom "Tech Managers." Every day we will put the Chromebooks in a safe place and make sure they are charged. We will make new labels for our Chromebooks and work toward getting a new cart to hold the Chromebooks.

This project is important because using computers is the main part of our school work, and we need to make sure that we have computers that work well every day. We want to make sure everyone in our class can use a computer everyday that will help them succeed this year.
