My Students

Our classroom is a hub of educational activity in which our diverse population is expected to thrive. Our students arrive at the math classroom prepared to unravel the exciting mysteries of the universe that can be unlocked through mathematics mastery!

Our shared math classroom is home to approximately 300 enthusiastic students that represent many nations and talents.

Our students come from an extremely wide range of economic backgrounds with the majority of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most diverse schools in Brooklyn and we are proud of it! Since our student population represents so many backgrounds and socioeconomic conditions, our academic needs are just as wide ranging - particularly in our studies of math.

My Project

"Thank you! We are proud of you!" We often verbally acknowledge that we appreciate the positive actions and accomplishments of our students. With this project, we are looking to provide just a little bit more to celebrate our gratitude for student accomplishments. Gratitude is said to be the healthiest human emotion, and we are looking to thank our students with framed certificates of achievement.

We are looking to improve the way that students in the math class feel by improving the way that we celebrate and recognize positive student actions.

Providing our classroom with picture frames and certificate frames will help us professionally mount certificates of student achievement on the walls of our classroom. Additionally, we are asking for colored pencils and a pencil sharpener to facilitate the creation of well-designed awards that we can ceremoniously offer students for their positive contributions to our community. Our students are our role models! The frames that we are requesting will beautify our space so that students feel that they are invested in, and give them some wonderful art on which they can model their own creative projects.

These subtle improvements to our STEM space should make our students feel a bit more excited about entering the math classroom, and a bit more energized about collaborating in a shared space. We are looking to ceremoniously honor our students for acting in ways that add to the success of our classroom community. Thank you for helping us provide positive reinforcement for excellent student achievement to continue the cycle of gratitude!
