Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an enthusiastic group of first graders. I teach a group of first-graders who love learning and going to school. If you were to ask my students what their favorite subject is, you would get a wide range of answers including math, reading, social studies, science, and art.

Our school is very small but diverse.

We not only have many regular education classes but also have three special education classes. Most of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school with 100% of our students receiving free lunch. Most of my first graders are limited English proficient.

My Project

I have the sweetest class, but this project will not only celebrate my students but the students of the school as well. I would love to be able to throw a celebration for the children of our school when we can go back to normal life. COVID has changed our world, but at some point, I'd love to be able to celebrate the academic accomplishments of my children and the other children in the school by throwing them a little celebration. I would love to throw an academic celebration for children who meet their academic goals. We already have a popcorn machine and a nacho machine, so we just need the cheese and the popcorn that goes inside of them. Unfortunately, not all children like nachos. I would love to offer them the opportunity to get either nachos or a hot dog, popcorn, and a drink. I would also like to start collecting items that we can give them as rewards like the playfoam and the putty. Celebrating children who are excelling in school is so important. They put in so much effort to complete all of their work and do well in school. I would love for our school to be able to say we are proud of them and give them something special.
