This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In math, Place Value is important because it provides the foundation for regrouping, multiple-digit multiplication, and more in the decimal system, as well as a starting point for understanding other base systems. As a teacher of more than 24 years, I have seen how difficult it can be for students to do math when they don't have a good understanding of place value. I know how difficult math can become for my students if they don't understand place value.

Place Value is a fundamental principle you use in everyday situations, often without realizing it.

Providing my students with hands-on experiences throughout the year will allow them to build their knowledge of place value. Having the ten blocks, place value disk, place value cards, and other resources will help me create learning visuals. It is also fun to keep my students engaged and excited to learn.
