Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 25 third graders are eager and excited to learn every day! They want to become better readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and geographers. They will benefit from many resources to increase their love of learning. I teach at a Title 1 school in New York City and the needs of the community are high.

I believe in my students and I want them to understand how great they are too!

Together, I know this can be the best school year but it will take hard work and grit to accomplish our goals.

My Project

My students will greatly benefit from subscriptions to Time for Kids and Scholastic News. They are currently learning how to build their reading lives through the love of books but they need access to kid friendly magazines too. I want them to read different types of genres and be able to engage in discussions about current topics.

The donation will truly ignite my students' desires to love reading and learning!

As students build their reading lives, their ability to read mathematical problems accurately will also increase. My students will benefit from the different mathematical problems in the book, which can be utilized during centers. My students also need snacks because they eat lunch at almost 1 pm. By 11:30 am, they are so hungry and this affects their learning.
