Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second-grade classroom is full of bright, energetic learners who love to explore and discover new concepts. However, many of my students learn best when they can use their hands and interact directly with the materials. For these young minds, abstract math concepts can feel overwhelming, and they need tools that make learning fun, engaging, and accessible.

Many of my students come from low-income households and do not have access to resources that support hands-on learning at home.

In our classroom, I strive to create an environment where every child feels supported and excited about learning.

My Project

To help my students develop a strong foundation in math, I am requesting math manipulatives, including:

3D shapes for geometry lessons, so students can explore attributes like faces, edges, and vertices in a tangible way.

Play money to practice real-life skills like understanding the value of money and counting coins.

A Magnetic Regrouping Activities Kit to make understanding place value and regrouping (a critical concept in addition and subtraction) more interactive and clear.

Magnetic Number Bonds to reinforce addition, subtraction, and fact families with a visual and hands-on approach.

These materials will transform my math instruction by helping students bridge the gap between abstract concepts and real-world applications. They will allow students to visualize, manipulate, and experiment with math in a way that deepens their understanding and builds confidence.

Your support will provide my students with tools that make math come alive for them. These manipulatives will engage their senses, help them solve problems more effectively, and give them the confidence to tackle increasingly complex math skills.
