Help Us Build Global Skills and Connections Through Technology!
We need 16 more Chromebooks so all 28 students per class have one to use, allowing us to implement rigorous research projects and international collaborations with other schools around the world.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have a wonderful team of 7th grade students helping. Cameron loves Pokemon, and his family is from Barbados. Eriber wants to be a video game designer, and his family is from Dominican Republic. Ivana loves music, and her family is Vietnamese. Tyson loves film history, and his family is American.
These four students collaborated on our first grant for Chromebooks, and now are joining in for this second grant so we can finally have a full class set of working computers!
Students have been so sad trying to do online research on computers that are literally falling apart, and one day a group of kids said, "We want to make this better! What can we do?" We learned about Donors Choose student-led projects, and all four students agreed to stay after school to write this proposal. They got so much from it, realizing that, rather than being sad and whining powerlessly about not having resources, they can band together and do something about it to make a positive change!
Our first project (for 12 computers) was fully funded (THANK YOU!), so these are the 16 Chromebooks that remain to be funded so all 28 students per class have one to work with. This is key because next year, in addition to doing rigorous research and writing projects on global issues, we will be using the computers for an international student dialogue program that practices valuable global skills across continents.
In Their Own Words
Cameron: This Project is to help our Humanities class gain better chrome books because the ones we have are 6 years old and hard to use because they're falling apart. You will help us focus on our class work since we are starting to progress. We do many multi-media research projects and papers, plus the new international student dialogue program, and some people could be left behind because we don't have enough working computers. We can't do the work at home because Some of the kids do not have functioning computers or phones. Thank you!
Eriber: I am realizing that instead of complaining I can be a leader and do something to help my class. One way I want to accomplish this is because we have computers that are so old that they are broken and I hate getting the broken ones. This is frustrating because it is annoying to use them. I know many people get frustrated over this and I don't want anyone to be frustrated over this. Being a leader is an important and fun thing to do, and a great responsibility. I am trying to be a leader!
Tyson and Ivana: This project is very important to us because not having the resources we need to do school work is infuriatingly frustrating because in 7th grade Humanities we absolutely need to access the internet for our multi-media research projects on the world, and to be able to do this we all need computers! Even if we tried to work in Humanities based from a textbook it would be very impractical because to keep up on current events we would have to buy a textbook every two days! Also, students will not be able to participate in the international pen pal project without technology for everyone in the class. Thank you for your help! We truly appreciate it and will use the skills gained to better our world.
