My students need a listening center that includes a CD player, headphones, and read along books to help foster their literary development and ability to read!

My Students

My seven students are all on the autism spectrum. Many are not yet able to verbally communicate or write their name. They face many challenges not seen by their same-aged peers.

All of my students are between the ages of 8 and 11 with amazing and inspiring personalities.

They attend a public school, but are in a self-contained classroom to build their social and academic skills. They push-in to classes with their typical peers and maintain friendships throughout the building. My students knock down barriers that typically separate students with special needs from their peers.

My Project

As previously mentioned, many of my students can not yet verbally communicate, write their name, or read. However, they all love to listen to books on tape and follow along with the pictures of the story. A listening center, with award-winning, and age-appropriate, literature is just what my students need to foster their literary development and their ability to read!

As a new teacher, I have limited resources to purchase everything that I know my students would benefit from.

However, a listening center for my students would be a wonderful asset to my students that they would enjoy for years to come.
