Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach students with Moderate to Severe disabilities. My students can at times struggle with general life skills but also struggle socially. I want to encourage them to sell coffee, tea, and cocoa on campus to raise money for field trips, outings, and school events.

The process of running and serving customers will allow my students to practice social skills, vocational skills, and math skills all while learning how to make coffee, tea, and hot cocoa.

Students will be rewarded with snacks and praise for running, producing, and delivering tasty beverages around campus. The snacks on the list will be utilized to encourage students to continue participating and enjoy a reward for their hard work. Students will utilize a mini fridge to store perishable items such as dairy products or creamers. Students will at times need to utilize a microwave to warm items, that will be donated from local vendors.

The students will create monthly menus and flyers to advertise to customers on campus. The color printer will allow the students to be bold in their advertising by utilizing color to print menus, business cards, and flyers. The extra ink will allow students to be creative in their weekly/monthly advertisements and keep customers interested. Students will be rewarded with snacks to encourage participation. Students can earn more treats with the more tasks they assist in. Helping customers, deliveries, set-up, and clean-up are all examples of the various jobs that would be completed to be successful, along with advertising. This will also allow students to be a staple on campus to meet new staff and students.
