My Students

As the magnet school for STEAM, we at Joseph B. Cavallaro will provide every child with the support to grow intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. In an advanced inquiry based learning environment, we will serve as leaders for the 21st Century, in both technology and the arts.

All for one and one for all - full STEAM ahead!

I am a STEM teacher in a Brooklyn middle school. I currently serve students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. My students come from many different ethnic backgrounds. They also are a mixture of general ed and special education students.

My Project

The Cricut machine is one of the best machines out there to create your own projects at home. It cuts everything from stickers to paper and even sews! It will even allow my students to do etching. I will be using this machine to help my students become young entrepreneurs! No better way to be prepared for adult life then through learning the ins and outs of a business and how to profit for financial gain!

Through the use of the Cricut machine my students will see that there are many jobs they may be good at that depend on the use of their hands, not just how high their GPA can go.

My students will be able to work independently and really get a hands on learning experience! My students will use this machine to make t-shirts, tote bags, and other various item that they can see in our schools student store.

My goal is to build self-confidence and really allow the students to have their creative minds flow!
