My Students

This is not my classroom. This classroom belongs to me and my students. It is our classroom. We are in an urban school located in central Virginia with a high poverty rate. My students are demographically very diverse. Our school is open year-round which allows for less summer slump, more opportunities for remediation, and students retain more information.

My kindergartners love to do hands-on science experiments!

Any chance they get to be actively involved in the experience, they get excited, and this leads to learning.

My Project

At our school, science is integrated into all areas of the curriculum. With these items, we will be able to fully integrate science throughout the day.

Science provides the answers to many of the questions young children ask throughout the day.

The questions turn into discussions which turn into learning. Through first-hand investigations, experiences, and active involvement, my students change their way of thinking about the world around them. Wearing lab coats and lab goggles will make them feel like actual scientists, which they are. The other items will go nicely with the kindergarten science curriculum at our school.
