Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Help us avoid combo chaos! My class will soon turn into a K/1 combination class and in order to make the most of every minute I have with them, I want to create fun and engaging centers my students can use independently while I work with small groups.
My incoming students will be both kinders and first graders.
The first graders will be students who are a little behind, and will benefit the most from some repeated exposure to the kinder curriculum. Many of my students do not have parent support at home, so the few hours I have with them are invaluable. I would love to give these eager and "almost there" scholars the chance to not only catch up, but soar!
My Project
Engaging centers are a must to encourage productive, independent learning. Using hands-on materials like stamps, magnets, and play dough will help my students manipulate letters and sounds to help them experience phonics and literacy. We will use the wipe-off markers to reinforce and practice skills again and again, without wasting paper! The sight word center will help my students use familiar words to build sentences and practice writing.
Teaching students to work independently is an incredibly valuable skill.
In a multi-grade classroom, students will need support and scaffolding to become motivated, hard-working, and autonomous scholars. This will help create a learning environment conducive to learning for everyone at different levels.
