This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Were you ever a "wimpy kid" when you were in school? This series of books works wonders for the reluctant boy readers, and is great for girls too! Giving children the opportunity to relate to a character who has faced embarrassing school moments, this is just the book we've been waiting for...

My third graders in a New York public school go home to houses, apartments or shelters with little to no materials to succeed in school.

This high-achieving third grade class in an extremely low-income community is made up of students who want to do well and want to learn as much as they can, but struggle to find the resources to do so.

My Project

For this proposal, I am asking for three sets of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series so that all of my students have regular access to these great books. They are the biggest hit in our school library, and as such, are extremely difficult to check out. By having these books in our classroom, my students can read them any time they want! This proposal also asks for 30 copies of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book." This book is an excellent companion to the Wimpy Kid series and a great way for the kids to compile personal narratives. This book series will benefit my current students as they finish off third grade and the same books along with the "Do-It-Yourself" diaries will be a great start to the third grade for 30 new students come September.

By making a donation to this project you will be sending a unique book series to my classroom, exciting for both girls and boys (the hardest readers of all to please!).

With such an affinity for this book series, my students will become better readers in no time! Then, having their own personal "Do-It-Yourself" books, they can really feel like they are part of the series and share excitement with one another as they complete the book together with their classmates/friends!
